Obama Democratic Platform meeting:  On Tuesday, July 22, 2008, approximately 80 people met at the KC Hall in Collinsville to take part in a Democratic Party Platform meeting discussion at the invitation of our Presidential Candidate Barack Obama.  The event was sponsored by the Southwestern Illinois Networking Group (SWING), Madison County Democrats and St. Clair County's Tomorrow's Democrats.  Included in the 80 were Matt Melucci, Madison County Clerk; Barb Brown, Randolph County Clerk and Chair of the Southwestern Illinois Networking Group (SWING); St.Clair County Treasurer Charles Saurez; and several County Board members.    Participants took part in breakout groups addressing topics of interest to the campaign, including Health Care, Education, Environment, National Security and the most popular, the Economy.  Each group came up with a consensus of opinions on the various topi cs which were forwarded to the Obama Campaign.  Also present were 3 Senator Obama Convention delegates who heard first hand what was on the minds of the gathering.
